Harper Junior High is part of the Yolo County Athletic League (YCAL). This league includes Emerson Jr. High and Holmes Junior High in Davis, Winters Middle School in Winters, Esparto Middle School in Esparto, Lee Jr. High and Douglass Jr. High in Woodland, and CA Jacobs Middle School in Dixon.

This league has been organized to develop the athletic skills of all students in an environment that enhances self-esteem and mutual respect between participants and coaches. The program develops lifelong attitudes about sportsmanship, fosters lasting attitudes about the importance of cooperation, encourages courtesy and self-control, and creates healthy attitudes about competition. It is the purpose of the athletic program to provide a quality program and unique opportunity for students to extend their physical and social education through their participation in sports.

To participate in YCAL sports, athletes must maintain a 2.0 GPA with no F’s, be in good standing at school, have a physical form on file with the school and attend practices. Any athlete who completes these requirements will play on the team. Seasons generally consist of 2 weeks of practice and ten league games played over approximately 5 weeks. In addition, all of the 8th grade teams participate in a league tournament at the end of their season.

**Physical forms must be turned in prior to the start of any given season. Please make doctor appointments early. Once a physical form is on file for the current school year, it can be used for all sports an athlete wishes to participate in.** Physical forms are available in the front office or on the website at:
